Dalit minor girl raped by auto driver in Andhra

Amaravati : A minor Dalit girl was allegedly raped by an autorickshaw driver in Andhra Pradesh after he lured her to his residence under the pretext of helping her relocate, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred on December 3 when the girl was shifting from one hostel to another and sought assistance from the driver, identified as Sai Kumar, whom she had met earlier.

Police said Kumar took her home under the guise of helping and then sexually assaulted her. The girl later reported the matter to the police with the support of her friends. Following her complaint, authorities registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Police added that Kumar is absconding and has switched off his mobile phone. A manhunt has been launched to trace and apprehend him.
