Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Saturday, visited Ballaguru village in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district to inaugurate a series of development projects aimed at enhancing the region's infrastructure and improving the lives of its tribal residents.
Speaking during the event, Pawan Kalyan emphasized that his ability to serve the people stems from the trust placed in the coalition government by the electorate. “Being in power enables me to deliver welfare initiatives effectively. This government was elected with a resounding mandate, winning 164 Assembly seats and 21 parliamentary constituencies. This overwhelming support reflects the people’s confidence in our vision for development,” he said.
Responding to questions from journalists about areas where the coalition failed to secure victories, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to serving all sections of society, regardless of their voting preferences. “Journalists asked me about the constituencies where we did not win. I told them one thing we work even for those who did not vote for us. We are not doing this for votes; public welfare is our priority,” he asserted.
Pawan Kalyan highlighted the government’s Rs.105 crore investment in development activities benefiting 4,500 tribal residents. “These are people who did not even vote for us. This itself is evidence that development is our primary focus,” he added.
During his visit to Ballaguru village in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Pawan Kalyan inaugurated the construction of BT (blacktop) roads, which are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 33.13 Crores stretching over 32.24 kilometers, a crucial step towards improving connectivity in tribal areas. These roads are expected to enhance access to essential services, boosting the region's overall development.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s efforts were lauded by VV Lakshminarayana, former CBI Joint Director and President of the Jai Bharat National Party. Taking to X, Lakshminarayana congratulated the Deputy Chief Minister for his commitment to the welfare of tribal communities. “Heartfelt congratulations on your efforts for the welfare of Giriputras (tribals). Your dedication to their development is truly commendable,” he wrote.
Lakshminarayana further drew attention to constitutional provisions for tribal welfare, such as Articles 46, 244, 244A, and 275(1), which prioritize education, land rights, and overall development for tribal communities. He underscored the importance of utilizing resources like the Tribal Sub-Plan, central government initiatives, Ministry of Tribal Affairs schemes, and the District Mineral Foundation to ensure grassroots-level impact.
“The agency areas were not prioritized in the past. Despite financial challenges, our government is committed to supporting tribal communities. We have already allocated Rs.49 crore to connect 24 tribal panchayats,” he added.
In the first phase of the initiative, Rs.105.33 crore is being spent on road construction in agency areas. Of this, Rs.72.20 crore comes from NREGA funds, and Rs.33.13 crore is provided by the Panchayati Raj Department. The newly launched BT road will span approximately three kilometers, significantly improving connectivity and alleviating the reliance on dolly systems for emergencies.
Beyond roads, the government is also focusing on holistic tribal development. Plans are underway to provide better health facilities, potable water, and local employment opportunities. “There are approximately 2,612 hamlets across 420 panchayats in agency areas. While urban regions see faster development, we are ensuring that even remote areas are not left behind,” Kalyan stated.
