Jagannath Rath Yatra draws thousands

The Sri Jagannath Rath Yatra was celebrated with grandeur and devotion at Attapur under the aegis of ISKCON Jagannath Mandir. Thousands of devotees took part in the annual procession, pulling the decorated chariot of Lord Jagannath with religious fervour and enthusiasm.

The procession began on Saturday afternoon at the ISKCON temple after special prayers, rituals and aarti were performed for Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra. The deities were placed on a grand chariot decorated with colourful flowers and lights, allowing devotees to seek blessings.

The rath yatra passed through the main streets of Attapur amid devotional chants, Harinam Sankirtan, mridangam performances and traditional dances. The spiritual atmosphere attracted a large number of devotees from different parts of the city.

Local residents and traders along the route welcomed the procession by decorating their houses, performing camphor aarti and offering prayers to the deities. Devotees also participated in the celebrations with great enthusiasm.

As part of the concluding ceremony, a special ‘56 Bhog’ comprising 56 varieties of offerings was presented to Lord Jagannath. Later, Mahaprasadam was distributed among thousands of devotees.

ISKCON representatives, local public representatives and devotees participated in the event, making the Rath Yatra a grand success. The streets of Attapur resonated with chants of “Jai Jagannath” as devotees celebrated the spiritual occasion with devotion and joy.
