Producer Venkat K Narayana said Tamil superstar and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s upcoming film Jana Nayaku will remain a memorable experience for fans and serve as a tribute to his cinematic journey.

Speaking at a press conference, Narayana said the film faced several unexpected challenges, including release delays, piracy issues and legal hurdles. The movie, originally planned for a January release, is now scheduled to hit screens worldwide on July 23. He added that the delay has created more excitement as it marks Vijay’s first film release after becoming Chief Minister.

Narayana revealed that he entered the film industry during the Covid period after witnessing the struggles of film workers. Through KVN Productions’ ‘Feed My City’ initiative, food assistance was provided to lakhs of people affected by the pandemic. Later, he ventured into film finance, distribution and production.

Speaking about his association with Vijay, Narayana said the project was finalised after a single meeting. He clarified that while two scenes from Bhagavanth Kesari inspired certain elements of Jana Nayaku, the film has a completely new storyline and conflict.

He expressed disappointment over the censor process, saying the film’s message on girl child empowerment and social change could have reached more families if it received a U/A certificate instead of an A certificate.

Narayana said Jana Nayaku will release in around 7,000 to 8,000 screens globally and described Vijay as a disciplined actor and a personality who will always be remembered. He also confirmed that his upcoming Telugu project with actor Chiranjeevi is progressing well.
