In a swift response, Kachiguda Police rescued a 24-year-old man who allegedly attempted suicide on the railway tracks at Kachiguda Railway Station on Monday night.
According to police, the incident came to light around 10:30 pm on May 25 after HC D. Yugandhar received a distress call from V. Nagaraju of Tadipatri in Andhra Pradesh. Nagaraju informed police that his son Niranjan, who works as a supervisor at a steel company in Kurnool, was suffering from severe depression and had sent a video saying he was standing on the railway tracks at Kachiguda station to end his life.
Acting immediately on the instructions of Kachiguda SHO S. Rajashekhar, Blue Colt personnel V. Chandra Peddiraju and S. Bala Mallesh rushed to the railway station and began searching the premises.
The police team located Niranjan on the tracks near Platform No. 5 and safely pulled him away, preventing a tragedy. The Government Railway Police (GRP) were alerted and the youth was later handed over to them for counseling and further action.
Police officials appreciated the prompt response of the Blue Colt staff.
