28-01-2026 12:00:00 AM

Telangana Jagruthi chief and former MLC K. Kavitha demanded that the state government provide weapons to excise and forest officials. Kavitha on Tuesday inquired about the health condition of excise constable Sowmya, who was seriously injured in an attack by a ganja gang and is receiving treatment at NIMS hospital. She also extended her condolences to Sowmya's family.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavitha alleged that law and order have deteriorated in Telangana state, and criminals are acting with impunity. She criticised that domestic violence is increasing in the state and that even women officers are not safe.

Kavitha expressed anger, stating that criminals no longer have any fear of the laws or the police. She added that those involved in ganja (marijuana) supply and smugglers have absolutely no fear of the excise police. Kavitha stated that the incident in Nizamabad is a clear example of this.

The Telangana Jagruthi President stated that to control criminals, it is necessary to provide protection to the officers working at the ground level. She demanded that the government restore the weapons that were previously provided to Excise and Forest officers. Kavitha opined that smugglers and anti-social elements would only be deterred if the officers were armed. She urged the government to stand by the officers who are being attacked while performing their duties and not to undermine their morale.

‘Santosh Rao is CM Revanth's spy’

Telangana Jagruthi President K. Kavitha has made sensational remarks, alleging that former MP and BRS leader Santosh Rao is working as a spy for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Speaking to the media here on Tuesday after inquiring about the health condition of excise constable Sowmya, who was seriously injured in an attack by a ganja gang and is receiving treatment at NIMS hospital, Kavitha said that Santosh Rao was the one who prevented the Telangana movement activists from meeting with BRS president and former chief minister K.Chandrasekar Rao and this sin would not go unpunished.

She alleged that it was Santosh Rao who even conveyed information to the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy about whether KCR ate half an idli or a whole idli at his farmhouse. Kavitha said she did not believe that Revanth Reddy would punish his spy in the phone tapping case.

The Telangana Jagruthi president further stated that she could not understand why KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao were supporting a wicked person like Santosh Rao.
