Keesara police have arrested five persons in connection with a daring daylight robbery at a jewellery shop in Nagaram, registered as Crime No. 05/2026 under Section 309(4) of the BNS and Section 27 of the Arms Act.

According to police, the incident occurred on January 2, 2026, around 5.15 pm. Two accused first entered Bala Jewellery Shop posing as customers and conducted a brief recce. After signalling that the situation was favourable, two other accused entered the shop armed with an axe and a dummy pistol, while the initial pair walked out to avoid suspicion.

The armed accused attacked the shop owner, Sandeep Gehloth, hitting him on the head with an axe and attempted to rob gold jewellery packed in a bag. Despite being injured, the shopkeeper resisted and managed to pull back the bag while the accused were fleeing. However, the offenders escaped on a Pulsar motorcycle with gold “mantees”.

Based on technical analysis and eyewitness accounts, police apprehended all five accused. Investigations revealed that the gang had conducted prior reconnaissance of jewellery shops located on the outskirts of the city and near escape routes. A stolen motorcycle was used for the crime.

Police seized a Maruti Baleno car, a Bajaj Pulsar bike and a dummy pistol from the accused. Authorities said three of the accused are habitual offenders with multiple property crime cases, while another is a rowdy sheeter with a past detention under the PD Act.
