King’s jet to aid of Pope

Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain): Pope Leo’s return flight to Rome was delayed on Friday after a technical fault grounded his Iberia charter in the Canary Islands. Spain’s King Felipe VI (L) stepped in, offering his private Falcon jet to fly the pope delegation home. Leo departed over three hours behind schedule after boarding the king’s aircraft at Santa Cruz de Tenerife airport. Iberia said the plane’s engine failed to start, forcing flyers to disembark. —AP
