Countdown begins at LB stadium
Yoga countdown program was held at LB Stadium on Friday ahead of the International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21. Prominent yoga organizations, educational institutions and social organizations participated in the celebrations. Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, former vice-president Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister Srinivasa Verma, several MPs, MLAs, MLCs, famous actresses Sai Dharam Tej, Khushboo and Meenakshi Chowdhury participated in the program as chief guests.
Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bhupatiraju Srinivasa Varma attended a 'One Day Countdown' event organized on the eve of International Yoga Day.
BJP leader and actress Khushbu Sundar, popular Telugu actors Sai Dharam Tej and Meenakshi Chaudhary also attended the event at the L B Stadium here, where about 40,000 people converged.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy appealed to everyone to perform Yoga at their homes, offices, parks, and other public places on June 21 on the occasion of International Day of Yoga. Yoga should be made a part of everyone's life, he said.
The Day would be celebrated in more than 200 countries across the world, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would participate in a programme in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam, he told reporters.
Former vice-president Venkaiah Naidu congratulated Union Minister Kishan Reddy for organizing a grand Yoga Countdown ceremony. Claiming that Yoga makes one fit, he said people can achieve mental and physical balance by practicing it.
‘Now-a-days, people are suffering from work pressure. No attention, No retention. Yoga is protection for everything. Yoga is a therapy, medicine, a remedy for all problems. Yoga is not a one-day event, a program. Yoga should be a part of our lives. Everyone should follow Yoga. We should take our India forward as a more powerful country. Yoga should be a part of our lives. Everyone should be fit. This is advice for the youth. It should be taken as a mission,’ he said.
He said with the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the name of Yoga for One Earth - One Health, preparations have started in all the States in an unprecedented manner to organize Yoga celebrations.
‘We should make all children, women and men practice yoga in our homes.
Yoga is a health science related to all religions. Unnecessary controversies and politics are useless in the matter of yoga.
Whoever practices yoga will improve their health,’ he said. Khushbu Sundar, who highlighted the benefits of Yoga, said it has gained more popularity due to the initiative of PM Modi.
Yoga is a part of every Indian culture, and we have been doing yoga for many years. But it has gained more popularity after PM Modi took it forward,’ she said.
