International Yoga Day
Andhra Pradesh is set to host one of the grandest celebrations of the 11th International Day of Yoga under the banner of “YogAndhra 2025,” with Prime Minister Narendra Modi slated to participate in the event on June 21 (Saturday). Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan will also join the PM in performing yoga postures on the scenic RK Beach in Visakhapatnam, as part of a state-led effort to promote holistic wellness and break global records.
Officials expect a historic gathering of over 5 lakh participants, aiming to set a new Guinness World Record for mass yoga participation along a 34-kilometre stretch of the coast—from Kali Mata temple near RK Beach to Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. The sprawling beachside has been divided into 326 compartments, with mini stages installed every 40 feet to accommodate the massive turnout.
With a budget of Rs.62 crore, the Andhra Pradesh government has spared no effort in ensuring flawless execution. More than 3,000 temporary toilets, medical camps at every fifth compartment, and a 10-bed emergency hospital at the main stage have been arranged. Participants have already registered online and will enter via QR code scanning, receiving free yoga mats and T-shirts. To handle the logistics, 3,600 RTC buses and 7,295 private buses have been mobilized to ferry participants from various districts.
In case of rain, a backup venue has been arranged at the Andhra University College of Engineering grounds, where a parallel yoga session involving 20,000 tribal students will be held. A 10-bed emergency hospital is also ready at this alternate location.
Given Prime Minister Modi’s participation, security has been tightened on an unprecedented scale. Over 10,000 police personnel will be deployed, and 2,000 CCTV cameras have been installed along the stretch. The Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command is also participating, with yoga sessions scheduled aboard 11 warships, adding a unique maritime dimension to the event.
Trial runs for the PM’s convoy—from INS Dega to the Command Guest House—have already been completed. Sanitation workers have been deployed throughout the beach road area to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
State Minister Satya Kumar Yadav stated that Andhra Pradesh is fully prepared to showcase yoga’s cultural and spiritual significance on the world stage. “This is not just a yoga event. It’s a message to the world about Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to wellness, discipline, and tradition,” he said.
Earlier, Health Minister Satya Kumar inspected the stage and event premises in Andhra University Campus Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Union Minister Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav and Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha , ahead of the 21st International Yoga Day celebrations.
As part of the inspection, the Minister reviewed all logistical arrangements including stage setup, medical preparedness, seating layout, sanitation facilities, safety protocols, and digital infrastructure to ensure a seamless experience for participants.
The Minister also interacted with yoga trainers and appreciated their dedication in promoting wellness through traditional practices. Emphasizing the spirit of “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” he reaffirmed the importance of coordination between central and state teams to uphold the values of discipline, health, and collective harmony on such a globally significant occasion.
With high-profile leaders, lakhs of participants, military cooperation, and meticulous planning, “YogAndhra 2025” is set to become a landmark celebration of India’s timeless practice of yoga—where the sea, the spirit, and the nation come together.
