The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has installed an elegant facade lighting system at the historic Kacheguda Railway Station at a cost of Rs 2.23 crore. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy will formally inaugurate the lighting on June 9.

In recent times, efforts have been made to beautify heritage structures through facade lighting, making them more visually appealing and helping the public appreciate their cultural and historical significance. As part of this initiative, the Kacheguda Railway Station built in 1916 during the Nizam’s rule in Gothic architectural style, has now been illuminated with 785 lighting fixtures. These lights will enhance the station’s majestic architecture and heritage appeal, especially at night.

Centrally located within the city and catering to thousands of daily passengers, the newly lit-up station will now also serve as a cultural and visual attraction. The lighting will help people understand and appreciate the historic importance of this railway station.

In addition to its heritage value, Kacheguda Railway Station is also a model of green infrastructure. It has been awarded the Platinum Rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) for its commitment to environmental sustainability through green energy use. Moreover, it is recognized as an Energy-Efficient Station by Indian Railways, and notably, it was the first station in Indian Railways to introduce digital payment systems. Further, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station is set for a massive redevelopment with an investment of Rs 421.66 crore, further enhancing passenger facilities and preserving its iconic legacy.
