Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday wrote an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding the progress of Hyderabad Metro Phase II works. In his letter, he told the CM that the state government had sought the central government's approval for undertaking the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro, as part of its decision to resolve traffic problems and improve transportation facilities in Hyderabad. Noting that he had  already announced that the state government would take over the first phase of the metro rail project, which is currently operational, from L&T company and operate it itself. “I met with the Union Minister for Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar and discussed the construction of the second phase of the metro rail project.

He stated that the state government should first take over the first phase of the metro from the L&T and that all agreements, decisions and transactions should be completed for this purpose. He also said that the central government would take action on the construction of the second phase after the transactions are completed. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also reminded me that the central government had already agreed to the construction of the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also informed me that a joint committee has been decided upon between the central and state governments to facilitate the state government's takeover of the first phase of the metro from the L&T and to prepare for the second phase. He said that it was decided to form a committee with two officers from the state government and two officers from the central government.

He also explained that they had requested the state government to send the names of the two officers for this purpose but the state government has not yet proposed the names of the officers,” he said . Reddy requested the CM  to immediately send the names of the two officers and make arrangements for the meeting. He also requested  that the state government expeditiously take over the 'metro network' from L&T and subsequently send the necessary proposals for the second phase of the metro rail construction to the central government and complete the process  as soon as possible.
