‘Kodad job mela offers new hope’

metro india news  I kodad : With overseas employment opportunities becoming increasingly difficult, the unprecedented Kodad Mega Job Mela has emerged as a source of hope for Telangana’s unemployed youth, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar said on Saturday.

Addressing thousands of jobseekers, he called for more large-scale recruitment drives across Telangana to connect qualified youth directly with employers.

“When America closes its doors to our youth and Australia does the same, going abroad becomes increasingly difficult. At a time when many young people are struggling without employment, bringing around 350 companies to Kodad is an extraordinary achievement,” he said.

Prasad Kumar said that despite spending nearly 30 to 35 years in public life, he had never witnessed a job mela organised on such a massive scale. He said the initiative should not remain a one-time event and urged that similar drives be conducted across the State. Describing the mela as more than a recruitment exercise, he said it could mark the beginning of a new chapter for thousands of young people. “I can see the determination to secure employment in the eyes of every candidate. That determination will certainly make you successful,” he said.

The Speaker said the government had already filled more than 60,000 vacancies and would continue issuing recruitment notifications. “The people’s government will fulfil the dreams of unemployed youth,” he asserted.

Referring to an earlier job mela at Huzurnagar, Prasad Kumar said it had attracted 20,000-30,000 candidates and helped nearly 3,000 secure jobs. The Kodad event, with around 350 participating companies, was being organised on a larger scale, he added. He advised candidates not to fear interviews or lose heart if they failed to secure employment on their first attempt. Interview experience, he said, would help them succeed in future.

Stressing the need for continuous learning, Prasad Kumar said rapid technological changes, particularly artificial intelligence, had made skill development essential across professions. “Today, you have come here looking for a job. Tomorrow, you should become entrepreneurs and reach a position where you can provide employment to ten others,” he said.
