For the first time in history, Krishna river waters have reached Kuppam through the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project, sparking celebrations across the region. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Kuppam's representative, marked the milestone by offering “Jalaharathi” to Krishna at the Kuppam canal with thousands of locals. Water traveled nearly 738 km from Srisailam to reach Kuppam’s drought-prone lands. Naidu performed rituals, prayed for prosperity, and noted this moment as a historic achievement. Villagers welcomed “Krishnamma” with flowers, slogan-shouts, and harathis at over 60 locations, fulfilling a decades-old dream.
Naidu took a boat ride in the filled reservoir, inaugurated a photo exhibition, and inspected water flow maps. He announced CCTV live streaming at reservoirs for transparency and confirmed that 66 tanks would now be filled, irrigating around 3,200 acres. Addressing the crowd, Naidu called this a holiest moment, likening the water arrival to early Krishna Pushkaralu and expressing joy at fulfilling his promise. He criticized previous YSRCP efforts while highlighting government investments. Naidu’s vision is transforming Rayalaseema into “Ratnala Seema,” with plans to expand water access, link rivers, and ensure drought-free agriculture across the region, along with industrial growth and youth employment.
