The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) secretary Guruva Reddy attacked the functioning of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) stating that it has become non-functional and has not contributed to the development of cricketers from the district. He further added that the HCA is muddled in controversy and the BRS Government when in power for 10 years brought the association to its nadir.

Speaking to media persons here today, Guruva Reddy said "KTR and Kavitha along with Sampath Kumar, who acted as the HCA election officer, should be investigated immediately. Due to their wrong decisions, injustice was done to rural cricketers. Summer camps should be organized free of cost, but the association took money to hold them. We have evidence to prove our allegations. Where did all that money go? Telangana cricketers are waiting for opportunities. We will submit the details of the irregularities in HCA to the CID and ED. The HCA executive committee should be dissolved,” he demanded.

Accusing former KTR and MLC Kavitha for involving in the functioning of the cricket body, he added that the members were forced to comply with their diktats which resulted in the wrong conduct of elections and proxy voting. Citing examples, he revealed that several IAS officers heading various departments were forced to comply. Sajjanar, Ronald Ross and Dana Kishore too voted on the insistence of their political masters representing institutional clubs. There are 217 cricket clubs under the HCA.

Lamenting on the lack of transparency, Guruva Reddy said that the HCA siphoned off funds to the tune of hundreds of crores over the years. He said that every year, the HCA diverts funds allotted for running summer coaching camps in the districts but no camps are held and not a single cricketer from the rural areas has made it big. Summer camps should be organized free of cost, but the association took money to hold them. The HCA league matches are not conducted properly and several institutional clubs hardly play matches. There has been no recruitment for the last 25 years and as a result, the cricketers are suffering.

Reddy demanded that the State government intervene in the HCA election issue. He wondered as to how did the present HCA president Jaganmohan Rao, who has no connection with cricket, become the president? He claimed that both KTR and Kavitha were behind the election of Jaganmohan Rao as HCA president. Reddy asked as to how IAS and IPS officers vote against the rules?  “IPS officer Sajjanar also participated in the election.

How can elections be held for 155 cricket associations that are not active? The elections should be cancelled immediately and the clubs should be completely reformed ," Guruva Reddy demanded. He revealed that BCCI gives up to Rs 100 crore to the HCA every year for the organisation of IPL tournament. He alleged that almost Rs 170 crore had been embezzled so far. He said the inquiry by CID into the HCA irregularities led to the arrest of the accused. Guruva Reddy said the creation of fake clubs and the creation of documents were all exposed due to the CID inquiry.
