Calling the Congress party’s Warangal Farmer Declaration a “bogus document” designed to mislead farmers for votes, BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on the Telangana government during the “Rythu Sangrama Sabha” held in Warangal on Wednesday. Marking four years since the declaration was announced, KTR alleged that not a single major promise made to farmers had been implemented by the Congress government.

Addressing farmers and party workers, KTR accused the ruling party of pushing Telangana back into an agrarian crisis through failed crop procurement policies, incomplete loan waivers, fertiliser shortages, and neglect of distressed farmers. He claimed the Congress had betrayed the farming community after coming to power with “false guarantees” and warned that farmers would strongly resist the government if their crops were not procured immediately.

KTR questioned the status of several promises made in the farmer declaration, including Rs. 15,000 investment support per acre,

Rs. 2 lakh farm loan waiver, bonuses for all crops, assistance for tenant farmers, crop insurance, and financial support for farm labourers. He alleged that despite repeated assurances, farmers across Telangana continue to suffer due to procurement delays and lack of government support.

The BRS leader appealed to farmers not to lose hope or resort to suicides amid mounting distress. He alleged that several farmer deaths reported in recent days reflected the failure of the Congress government to respond effectively to the crisis. KTR said the BRS would continue its agitation until every grain produced by farmers was procured without conditions.

Targeting Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, KTR accused them of deceiving Telangana farmers with “unrealistic promises” before the elections and abandoning them after assuming power. He claimed the Congress government was more interested in publicity events than solving farmers’ problems on the ground.

KTR also asserted that Telangana’s agriculture sector had flourished during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao under schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, but was now witnessing growing uncertainty and distress under the present administration.
