The Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha announced that Mahabubnagar General Hospital will be upgraded to match corporate hospital standards, with MRI scanning services set to commence from Ugadi. An MRI machine, costing Rs 10 crore, will be installed to address long-standing patient needs. Additionally, super specialty medical services, including cardiology, neurosurgery, urology, and nephrology, will soon be introduced to reduce the need for patients to travel to Hyderabad for treatment.

In a review meeting with erstwhile district MLAs and health officials, the minister revealed a Rs 100 crore allocation for developing medical facilities in the joint district, including five medical colleges and district hospitals. He directed officials to prepare detailed proposals for infrastructure, equipment, and service enhancements. Plans to establish new sub-centers, primary health centers, and dialysis centers were also discussed, considering geographic and population needs.

The minister emphasized punctuality among doctors and staff, warning of strict action for non-compliance. Task force committees have been formed for surprise hospital inspections. New Central Medicinal Storage Centers and monitoring committees were established to ensure medicine availability. MLAs expressed gratitude, noting that improved services, especially affordable MRI scanning, would significantly benefit patients and address a decade-long gap in healthcare services.
