State Civil Supplies Department and Eluru District In-charge Minister Nadendla Manohar said on Wednesday that the main objective of the P4 program is to remove economic inequalities in the society and create a poverty-free society. The minister reviewed the objectives of the program being implemented by the state government in a meeting convened with the officials of industrialists and representatives of various organisations in the district at the local collectorate.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Manohar said that the aim of P4 is to help raise the standard of living of the 20 percent poorest of the the poor in the society.Stating that the program is a good platform for the well-intentioned rich who are determined to serve the poor and raise their standard of living, Minister Manohar mentioned that so far 95,000 families have been identified in the district, out of which 5,181 families have been supported.
He complimented that the Chief Minister is working towards achieving Swarnandhra Pradesh@2047 and putting the state first in the direction of development. District Collector K. Vetriselvi said that a survey was conducted in the P4 programme in the district and 99 thousand 905 gold families have been identified and so far 129 guides have been identified and 5181 families have been supported by the guides.
On this occasion, the minister expressed his displeasure over the forest department officials who are obstructing the tribals who manufacture handicrafts with bamboo in Buttaigudem to get bamboo in the forest. Stating that bamboo handicrafts are being manufactured for the livelihood of tribals, the minister directed the forest department officials not to impose restrictions on bamboo procurement as it would affect their employment.
