Maintain cleanliness to prevent dengue: GHMC Commissioner

Addressing students at a school in Kavadiguda, the GHMC Chief explained about the importance of cleanliness

GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan on Friday urged the residents of the city to maintain cleanliness to prevent the spread of dengue. The commissioner visited Musheerabad Circle Gandhi Nagar, Arundhati Colony, Kavadiguda School and Indira Park. Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner advised the people to take measures to prevent mosquitoes and to keep the surroundings clean so that they do not get exposed to dengue and malaria. 

He spoke to the students at Kavadiguda school. The commissioner explained to the students the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of dengue and malaria diseases. Later,the Commissioner visited Indira Park. There he spoke to the walkers and inquired about their problems. 

On this occasion, the Commissioner asked for the Gulmohar tree to be removed from the open gin and for the green waste to be removed on a day-to-day basis and all fountains in the park should be in function. He also said that dogs should not be allowed to enter the park. The Commissioner instructed that the iron scrap be removed immediately and the butterfly park be developed and prepared for the public. 

In view of the water leakage in many areas of the park, he directed the engineers to repair them also take steps to prevent leakages. He said that plastic items should be prevented from being brought in. He also directed the officials to remove the non-functional fountain, plastic and other garbage from the yoga shed. The Commissioner was accompanied by Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran, Deputy Commissioner Ramanujula Reddy and others.
