Key IPS Transfers announced in Telangana

The Telangana government has issued a fresh set of IPS transfers and postings, with a significant administrative reshuffle that includes the appointment of a new Commissioner of Police for Malkajgiri. As per the orders issued by the General Administration Department, B. Sumathi, IPS (2006 batch), has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri, marking a key leadership change in the rapidly expanding urban policing jurisdiction.
Tarun Joshi, IPS (2004), currently serving as Director of the Anti Corruption Bureau, has been appointed as Commissioner of Police, Future City, in place of G. Sudheer Babu, who is set to retire on April 30, 2026.
The orders, notified on April 24, outline several high-level changes across key departments. Shikha Goel, IPS (1994), has been transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department. She will continue to hold additional responsibilities as Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and Director of the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory until further orders.
Devendra Singh Chauhan, IPS (1997), has been appointed as Director General (Vigilance and Enforcement), succeeding Shikha Goel. Shahnawaz Qasim, IPS (2003), has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Multi Zone II, and will also hold full additional charge as IGP Personnel.
Avinash Mohanty, IPS (2005), who previously served as Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri, has been transferred and posted as Director General of Drugs Control Administration and Director of Prohibition and Excise. He will also hold full additional charge as Director of the Anti Corruption Bureau. Kartikeya, IPS (2006), Inspector General of Police, Intelligence, has been given full additional charge as IGP, SIB Intelligence.
