Malla Reddy Narayana Hospital has achieved a significant milestone, successfully performing over 100 Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgeries (MICS), transforming the lives of patients with advanced cardiac care. The hospital organized a grand press meet to celebrate this achievement, inviting all 100 patients who had undergone the procedure. These patients, now fully recovered and leading normal lives, shared their inspiring journeys.
The event highlighted the exceptional expertise of Dr. Harish Badami, a highly respected cardiac surgeon known for his groundbreaking work in minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Badami’s commitment to personalized heart care has earned him the trust of patients across Hyderabad. Patients lauded his skill and compassion, crediting him for their swift recovery and improved quality of life.
Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery involves performing complex heart procedures through small incisions in the chest, avoiding the need to cut through the breastbone as in traditional open-heart surgery. This advanced approach reduces physical strain on the body, enabling quicker recovery and less postoperative pain.
The minimally invasive approach uses advanced tools and high-definition cameras, allowing surgeons to perform procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), mitral valve repair, and aortic valve replacement through 2-4 inch incisions. An additional technique introduced in the department, Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH), adds value to MICS.
EVH is a minimally invasive procedure where a vein is removed from the leg for use in CABG. This procedure results in less pain, smaller scars, quicker recovery, and a lower risk of infection or bleeding compared to traditional vein harvesting methods. Most patients are able to resume normal activities within two weeks.
Dr. Bhadra Reddy, Chairman of Malla Reddy Health City, said “In the last 10 months alone, we have successfully completed 100 minimally invasive cardiac surgeries at Malla Reddy Narayana Hospital. Over the next three months, we plan to introduce robotic surgeries to perform complex procedures in minimal time, enabling faster recovery for patients. We are equipping the hospital with cutting-edge technology and machinery to achieve this goal.”
