Man arrested for adulterating ginger paste

Hyderabad: The Khairtabad Zone Task Force, in coordination with GHMC officials, conducted a surprise inspection at A1 Sahara Gold Ginger & Garlic Paste unit in Borabanda and apprehended one accused, Mohd Abdullah, for manufacturing and selling adulterated ginger and garlic paste. The inspection revealed that the accused was preparing the paste under unhygienic conditions, using substandard raw materials, shells, and chemicals like acetic acid and salt. The products were stored in open tubs, exposed to dust and insects, making them unsafe for consumption.

The adulterated paste was being supplied to wholesale kirana stores, restaurants, and catering services, generating huge illegal profits. Authorities seized 55 kg of loose paste, 4,275 kg of garlic raw material, 150 kg of garlic husk, 800 kg of salt, turmeric powder, pre-packaged pouches, and processing machines worth around Rs 4.5 lakh.
