The Special Crime Team (SCT) of the Central Crime Station (CCS), Hyderabad, along with Hussaini Alam Police, apprehended a man for illegal possession of a country-made weapon on December 31, 2025. Acting on credible information, the police team arrested Amjad Khan (29), son of Habeeb, a businessman operating at Charminar and a Saudi Arabia returnee. He is a resident of Khilwath, Hussaini Alam, Hyderabad. During the operation, police seized a country-made pistol (0.7 mm) and a mobile phone (OnePlus) from his possession.

According to police, Amjad Khan is a native of Hyderabad who returned from Saudi Arabia and later started a business in the Charminar area. About ten months ago, he allegedly procured the country-made pistol for Rs. 80,000 from Avinash alias Kallu, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, through an intermediary Amith, a native of Madhya Pradesh residing in the BHEL area of Hyderabad. The accused reportedly kept the weapon to threaten members of the general public by displaying it. Following his apprehension, Amjad Khan was taken into custody, while the other accused—Avinash and Amith—are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest them.

The operation was carried out by D. Bikshapathi, Inspector of Police, Special Crime Team, along with his staff, under the supervision of G. Venkateswar Reddy, ACP, Special Crime Team, CCS, Hyderabad, in coordination with Hussaini Alam Police.

Hyderabad City Police have reiterated that persons in illegal possession of arms or weapons should voluntarily deposit them at their nearest police stations. The police cautioned that strict surveillance is being maintained across the city and swift action will be taken against anti-social elements involved in unlawful activities.
