With Hyderabad’s emergence as a sprawling metropolitan city, the people’s government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is planning to strengthen infrastructure in line with the city’s expanding scale, said Hyderabad district in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
The Minister, along with Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, inaugurated the newly constructed Chikkadpally–Domalguda link bridge across the Hussain Sagar surplus nala. Built by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at a cost of Rs. 6 crore, the bridge is expected to significantly improve connectivity in central Hyderabad.
Member of Parliament Anil Kumar Yadav, MLA Muttha Gopal, Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shobhan Reddy, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, Additional Commissioner Raghu Prasad, CE projects Bhaskar Reddy, Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran, local corporators, SE mohan Reddy , EE Rohini, DEE Renuka and AEE Prashanth were among those present at the inauguration.
Speaking after opening the bridge, Minister Prabhakar said that following the merger of municipalities within and around the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Greater Hyderabad has grown into the largest city in the country in terms of both area and population.
“In a city of this magnitude, infrastructure such as roads, stormwater drains, street lighting, parks and other civic amenities must grow in proportion to the population. The Chief Minister is moving forward with comprehensive plans to address these needs,” he said. As district in-charge Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar assured that all local public representatives would be taken along in a coordinated manner to ensure improved civic facilities and better quality of life for the people of the city. Given Hyderabad’s importance as the State headquarters and a core urban region, special priority is being accorded to its development, he added. The commissioning of the Chikkadpally–Domalguda link bridge has brought much-needed relief to commuters. With the bridge now open to traffic, travel time from Chikkadpally to Ashok Nagar and Domalguda — and further towards Liberty Junction, the GHMC head office and the Secretariat — is expected to be reduced by nearly half.
