The Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), in association with Cyberabad Police, celebrated a decade of the Margadarshak initiative, a community-based programme aimed at supporting individuals in distress through guidance, awareness and timely intervention.

As part of the celebrations, SCSC and Cyberabad Police conducted a recertification programme for previously trained Margadarshaks and Sangamitras. Both volunteer groups have now been brought under a unified platform titled “Margadarshak – Your Buddy in Distress 3.0”.

A total of 41 volunteers were recertified, reaffirming their commitment to helping people facing emotional, social, personal and cyber-related challenges. The programme focused on refreshing skills in empathetic listening, psychological first response, women’s safety, cyber safety, legal awareness and referral support mechanisms. Addressing the gathering, Cyberabad Women and Child Safety Wing DCP K. Srujana highlighted the importance of stronger citizen-police partnerships and the role of volunteers in connecting distressed individuals with support services.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh said Margadarshaks often serve as the first point of contact for people in difficult situations and urged volunteers to remain compassionate and accessible. Over the past 10 years, the initiative has supported numerous individuals through guidance, referrals and community outreach, strengthening the culture of care and resilience across Cyberabad.
