HYDERABAD, April 11, 2026 : Maruti Suzuki India Ltd today marked a milestone in its electric vehicle journey by delivering 108 units of its e VITARA to customers in a single day at a large-scale handover ceremony held at JRC Convention Centre, Hyderabad. The event underscores the growing customer trust in the country's largest carmaker as it accelerates its transition toward cleaner mobility.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, highlighted Hyderabad's significance to the company's EV ambitions, noting that the city's 14.5% EV penetration, the highest of any city in India, makes it an ideal market to demonstrate the e VITARA's potential for meaningful scale. He emphasised that Maruti Suzuki's goal has always extended beyond only building an electric vehicle to developing the broader ecosystem around it aswell. He highlighted the availability of a charging point every 5 kilometres in the city, supported by 256 charging points across Telangana, of which 119 are located in Hyderabad.
Built on the company's all-new HEARTECT-e electric vehicle platform and conceived around the idea of an "Emotional Versatile Cruiser", the e VITARA offers a driving range of up to 543 km. Buyers can choose between two battery configurations — a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh pack — both backed by an 8-year or 1,60,000 km battery warranty. The SUV has also received a 5-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP, reinforcing its positioning as a safe and dependable choice for Indian families.
The e VITARA, Maruti Suzuki's first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), is manufactured exclusively at the company's Hansalpur Manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Since its flag-off by the Prime Minister at the Hansalpur plant in August 2025, the model has emerged as the highest exported BEV from India in FY 2025-26, with over 25,000 units shipped to 44 countries and exports destined for more than 100 countries across European and other international geographies.
