Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi on Monday unveiled a series of beautification and civic enhancement projects across the Khairatabad Zone, reaffirming the city’s focus on modern urban design and public-friendly spaces. She was joined by Zonal Commissioner Anuraag Jayanthi, Corporator Surekha, and senior civic officials.

At the iconic Abids GPO Junction, minor civil repairs, thematic wall treatments, and fresh coats of paint were completed at a cost of Rs 49 lakh. The revamp is designed to improve both functionality and the visual charm of one of Hyderabad’s busiest intersections.

Gun Park Junction witnessed the inauguration of a digitally animated water fountain, a striking addition intended to blend modern aesthetics with the historic setting. Meanwhile, the island near BRK Bhavan at Gunfoundry has been transformed through comprehensive landscaping and civil works, executed with an outlay of Rs 50 lakh. The development is expected to enrich greenery and create a more pedestrian-friendly environment.

The Mayor also inaugurated a new urban waterfall feature at KBR Park, conceived as part of GHMC’s eco-friendly recreational strategy. The installation seeks to enhance visitor experience while highlighting sustainable urban design practices. Speaking on the occasion, Vijayalakshmi said, “These initiatives reflect our vision to modernize civic infrastructure while preserving Hyderabad’s cultural and ecological ethos.” The projects are part of GHMC’s wider urban renewal agenda aimed at improving livability, strengthening civic pride, and reimagining the city’s public spaces.
