Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has instructed GHMC officials to intensify sanitation efforts in Hyderabad’s slum areas, with a special focus on preventing seasonal diseases during the monsoon. During a field visit to Ambedkar Nagar and Uday Nagar bastis in Jubilee Hills Circle on Sunday, she emphasized accountability among sanitation workers and warned of strict action against those neglecting waste removal or dumping construction debris.

The Mayor also inspected a partially collapsed nala protection wall in Ambedkar Nagar and directed officials to implement immediate safety measures. She ordered the prompt removal of debris from slum roads to ensure public safety and hygiene.

Later, she visited a sunken road slab near Virinchi Hospital on Banjara Hills Road No. 1. Reviewing the site, she announced the sanctioned construction of a 19-meter RCC slab at a cost of Rs 65 lakh and instructed engineering teams to begin work immediately and complete it on a war footing.

Residents expressed gratitude for the Mayor’s swift response and proactive measures. She was accompanied by Zonal Commissioner Anuraag Jayanthi, Chief Engineer Ratnakar, EE Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Sammaiah, and other GHMC officials during the inspection.
