Medak MP Raghunandan Rao on Thursday inaugurated a water recharge system constructed under the VB-G RAM-G scheme for the first time at a government school in Chinna Nizampet village of Akbarpet-Bhoompally mandal in Siddipet district.

Speaking on the occasion, Raghunandan Rao urged farmers to make effective use of the Rs 36,000 financial assistance being provided by the Centre under the scheme for borewell recharge and take up the construction of water recharge pits on a large scale.

In view of the El Niño phenomenon and the possibility of water scarcity in the future, the MP stressed the need to conserve every drop of rainwater and strengthen groundwater resources. He called for the construction of water recharge pits across villages in the constituency as a mass movement to help prevent drought-like conditions in the coming years.

Raghunandan Rao directed sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, elected representatives and officials to initiate the works immediately and ensure that the scheme effectively reaches farmers and villages. The MP particularly appreciated Chinna Nizampet Sarpanch Mahesh for taking the initiative to construct the first water recharge pit in the village.
