Marking World Emergency Medicine Day, Medicover Hospitals Financial District conducted a walkathon to promote CPR awareness, emergency preparedness, and heat stroke prevention.
The event, held from 6 am onwards, saw participation from doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, students, hospital staff, and members of the public. The initiative focused on spreading awareness about life-saving emergency response measures and the importance of staying safe during the summer season.
As part of the programme, the Department of Emergency Medicine launched “Mission Million Hearts,” a campaign aimed at training 10 lakh people in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and Basic Life Support (BLS) before the next World Emergency Medicine Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nayan Sriramula, Head of Department, Emergency Medicine and Trauma, said the first few minutes during a medical emergency are crucial and timely CPR training can help save lives before professional medical assistance arrives. He also stressed the need for greater awareness on heat stroke prevention during peak summer.
The awareness drive also highlighted hydration, early signs of heat stroke, timely medical intervention, and the role of community participation in emergency response preparedness.
