Moving away from the usual marathon and walkathon events, STAR Hospitals organized India’s first-ever hospital-led 10-floor stair-climb challenge, “emergenSEE 2026,” to mark Emergency Medicine Day at its Nanakramguda facility. More than 100 participants, including doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals, took part in the endurance challenge by climbing the 10-floor hospital building twice, completing a 20-story vertical ascent.
The initiative was aimed at highlighting the physical and mental resilience required in emergency medicine. The event was conducted in line with this year’s Emergency Medicine Day theme, “Safe Space for Emergency Medicine Teams: STOP Violence Everywhere,” emphasizing the need for a secure and violence-free workplace for frontline healthcare workers.
Dr. Rahul Katta, Group Lead of Emergency Medicine at STAR Hospitals Hyderabad, said the challenge symbolized the uphill battle emergency teams face every day while saving lives. CEO Dr. Rahul Medakkar said the event reflected the hospital’s focus on staff wellness, endurance, and support for healthcare professionals. The challenge began at 6 AM from the hospital lobby, and the top 10 fastest participants were honoured after the climb. STAR Hospitals also released a special video dedicated to emergency medicine professionals on its YouTube channel.
