Doctors at Medicover Woman & Child Hospitals gave 35-year-old Nanditha Paul a new chance at life and saved her dream of becoming a mother by safely removing a large 10 cm cervical fibroid without Hysterectomy.
Nanditha came to Medicover in a very serious state. She had heavy vaginal bleeding and very low hemoglobin, which can be life-threatening. Before reaching Medicover, she had already been given 16 units of blood just to stay stable. Because the tumour was so big and in a tricky spot, many hospitals suggested a hysterectomy to stop the bleeding. But that would mean she could never have children.
At Medicover, Dr. Prithvi Perum, Consultant Robotic & Laparoscopic Surgeon, along with Dr. Ajay Varun Reddy (Surgical Oncology) and Dr. Shilpa (Anesthesia), did a special surgery called a myomectomy, which removed the large fibroid but saved the uterus. ‘This was not just about taking out a tumor. It was also about saving her chance to be a mother,’ said Dr. Prithvi.
