The financial burden on the Metro rail management has started due to the decrease in the number of the Metro passengers for a year during Corona virus pandemic. It is reported that the burden has now reached to Rs 6,598 crore.

However, the Metro rail management has been requesting the State government for some time to grant permission to increase Metro rail fares. It is reported that CM Revanth Reddy has made it clear that he will not increase the Metro rail fares for now. With this, it seems that the Metro rail is planning to increase the fares using its discretionary power without the permission of the State government.
