Minister for Human Resources Development (HRD) N Lokesh launched mid-day meal scheme at the government junior college at Payakapuram in Vijayawada on Saturday.

Andhra Pradesh Housing and Information and Public Relations minister Kolusu Parthasarathy announced on Saturday that the government will spend Rs 27.39 crore this year and Rs 85.84 crore in the next academic year to implement the mid-day meal scheme for intermediate students across the state.

He inaugurated the Dokka Seethamma mid-day meal scheme at the Mudupalli Tatayya Government Junior College in Nuziveedu.

He mentioned that there are 3,734 students in 19 junior colleges in Eluru district, of which 410 are in Nuziveedu government Junior College. Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said on Saturday that the state government is implementing the 'Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal Scheme' to provide nutritious food to 1,48,149 students studying in 475 government junior colleges across the state.

He inaugurated the 'Dokka Seethamma Midday Meal Scheme' program for intermediate students at the local B.Camp Government Junior College.

“The state government has so far implemented the Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal Scheme program in government schools up to class 10. From now on, the government will also implement this scheme for intermediate students.

The scheme is being implemented in 475 government junior colleges across the state. The government will spend Rs 28 crore this financial year and Rs 86 crore from the next financial year for the implementation of this scheme.” the CS said.
