YSRCP MP Peddireddy Midhun Reddy was produced before the ACB Court Vijayawada after the initial medical examination. The SIT officials are said to have submitted to the court several reasons for Midhun Reddy's arrest. A case has been registered under sections 409, 420, 120(b), read with 34, 37 and 7, 7A, 8, 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. SIT’s lawyers sought the remand of MP Midhun Reddy. The SIT brought to the notice of the court that during the tenure of the previous YSRCP government, the accused numbers 2 and 3 were two officers in key positions in the excise department and that Midhun Reddy had made influenced them which resulted in huge loss to the state's revenue.
YSRCP leaders called the arrest as targeting of opposition voice.
