Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy visited Railway Manufacturing Unit(RMU) at Kazipet on Saturday. Minister Kishan Reddy reviewed the on-going works at the unit, safety aspects at the construction site and also the passenger amenities and facilities provided at the station. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR) and other senior officials were also present.
Addressing the media, minister Kishan Reddy informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet in 2023 and the works are progressing at a rapid pace.He also informed that Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is executing the project with a cost of Rs. 521 Crores and that various structures such as shops, store ward, admin block, rest house, canteen, security, toilet blocks, boundary wall, RUB, internal railway track, roads, etc are being constructed.
Further, 1 MWp roof solar plant, provision of natural day lighting and natural ventilation, LED lighting, sewage treatment plant, waste water recycling plant, rain water harvesting etc are also being done, he added. The Minister informed that 75% of the works are completed and the project is targeted to be completed by next year.
It is proposed to manufacture 16 coach MEMU rakes at the RMU, he added. He also mentioned that the Railway infrastructure in Telangana is witnessing unprecedented development, be it Vande Bharat trains, electrification, new trains, Amrit stations, KAVACH etc.
