In a striking display of simplicity, Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women & Child Welfare, Dr. Dhanasari Anasuya (Seethakka), reviewed Medaram Maha Jatara arrangements like a common devotee. She rode pillion on a Royal Enfield, driven by Mulugu SP Shabarish, through forest routes to the Sammakka-Saralamma shrine.

The unusual sight of a minister on a bike instantly connected with locals, who chanted “Jai Seethakka.” She inspected roads, assessed alternate routes, and directed officials to ensure smooth traffic for the lakhs of pilgrims expected in January. Seethakka also instructed the creation of emergency corridors, VIP routes, and comprehensive plans for parking and ambulance access.

Addressing the media, she stressed that “road connectivity is key,” with work underway on new forest roads and route expansions. Key links include Kondaparthi–Gonepalli–Muthapuram to Padikapuram and Kalvapalli to Kanepalli. A BT road is also being laid between Kalvapalli and Uratam.

She announced a new route via Chinnaboinapalli to Uratam for devotees from Chhattisgarh and Khammam. The long-awaited Kondai Bridge will be completed before the Jatara at a cost of Rs. 16.5 crore, with funds already sanctioned.

Seethakka assured that parking spaces, road dividers, and emergency access points will be arranged. She emphasized that modernization would strictly follow tribal traditions. “As a tribal, I understand the sanctity of Sammakka-Saralamma worship. There will be no deviation from rituals,” she said, dismissing political criticism. “Medaram is not just a festival—it’s a sacred yajna. We are working with that spirit,” she concluded.
