Minister calls for appreciating music

Minister for Tourism, Cinematography and Cultural Affairs Kandula Durgesh on Saturday called upon the people to appreciate the wonderful world of music. The Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture (Sangeet Natak Akademi) and the state joint organized the “Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam” musical event at Kshetraiah Kalakshetra, Tummalapalli in Vijayawada. 

On this occasion, Minister Durgesh was felicitated by Venkatraman Hegde, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism and a Bobbili Veena was presented as a gift. On this occasion, the Additional General of Tourism informed that that a proposal has been submitted to Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to allot a National School of Drama to Andhra Pradesh. 

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kandula Durgesh wished the success of the Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam celebrations held on the banks of Krishna river for the third time and described it as a wonderful spiritual music program. He said that Andhra Pradesh is known for its immortal musical flow and art and cultural splendor and spoke about the need to introduce the musical traditions, art and cultural forms of the state to the world, especially to the younger generation who are getting influenced by modern aspects. 

Especially in the field of art and culture, he stressed on the need to explain the origins.The minister called for formulating programs which can be continued uninterruptedly and assured that the government would provide Telugu folk art forms like puppetry, Harikatha, burrakatha and other art forms to the present generation.
