MLA Dhanpal joins Bonalu celebrations in Nizamabad

Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta participated in the Bonalu celebrations organised by the Katta Maisamma Temple and the Namdev Wada Goud Association at Kotgalli in Nizamabad on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said Bonalu is a symbol of Telangana's rich culture and traditions. He noted that the Ashada month is spiritually significant, with devotees offering prayers to village deities for timely rains, prosperity and the well-being of people and livestock.

The MLA said Bonalu is not merely a festival but a tradition that reflects the people's faith in village goddesses and preserves Telangana's cultural heritage. He explained that "Bonam" is a sacred offering of rice cooked with milk and jaggery, carried by women in decorated earthen pots and offered to the goddess. Traditional events such as Pothuraju performances, Ghatam processions and Rangam add to the festival's grandeur, he said.

Dhanpal prayed for the goddess's blessings and wished everyone good health, happiness and prosperity. Corporators, temple representatives and members of the Goud Association also attended the celebrations.
