MyNaa Swamy urges govt to organize Raya’s celebrations

Former journalist MyNaa Swamy has urged the state government to organize Sri Krishna Deva Raya’s celebrations officially every year as per the respective event of the calendar. He met the Special Chief Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Ajay Jain in Vijayawada and submitted a letter about the celebrations.

He appealed the special CS that the state government should officially celebrate the death anniversary of Sri Krishna Deva Raya, the great emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire, on October 17.

As per the inscription of Honnenahalli in Tumkur district of Karnataka, Krishna Raya died on 17 October 1529. This was deciphered by historian K R Narasimhan.

MyNaa Swamy speaking to the media and said that the Secretary has sent a letter to the Director of the Department of Culture expressing his willingness to celebrate the death anniversary of Krishna Raya on October 17. He demanded that the state government should officially celebrate the birth anniversary of Raya on February 16 and the coronation ceremony on August 7 in Tirupati, Penukonda and Vijayawada.
