Konidala Nagababu has filed his nomination as Jana Sena party's MLC candidate. Nagababu handed over the nomination papers to returning officer Vanitha Rani in the Assembly on Friday. Nagababu's candidature was supported by Ministers Nara Lokesh and Nadendla Manohar. Jana Sena MLAs Konatala Ramakrishna, Bolisetty Srinivas BJP floor leader Vishnu Kumar Raju, TDP MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao were present at the filing ceremony.
Nagababu thanked Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for giving him the opportunity to contest as an MLC candidate and Lokesh and Manohar for supporting his nomination.Nagababu's name has been finalised as a candidate for one of the five seats for the MLA quota MLC elections. Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has finalised Nagababu's name as Janasena candidate for the MLC elections to be held under the MLA quota. Nagababu, who is already the state's general secretary, has been informed to file his nomination as an MLC candidate.
However, earlier there were reports that Nagababu would be sent to the Rajya Sabha in the seat vacated by YSRCP leader Vijay Sai Reddy. There were also indications that Nagababu would be given the post of corporation chairman instead of the MLC post. However Pawan Kalyan has finally finalised Nagababu's name as MLC candidate after consultation with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
