The city witnessed a vibrant Nagar Kirtan on Tuesday as part of the 350th martyrdom commemoration of the Ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahibji. The holy procession featured devotional Shabad Keertans, Gatka martial arts demonstrations, and the carrying of Guru Granth Sahibji and Sri Nishan Sahebans from various Gurudwaras across Telangana.
Organised by the Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Sitafalmandi in coordination with Sikh Gurudwaras across the state, the procession passed through Clock Tower, Sangeet X Roads, Keys High School, Oliphant Bridge, Chilkalguda, Mylargadda and Sitafalmandi before returning to the Gurudwara. Devotees from different districts took part, accompanied by continuous hymns rendered by several Jathas.
Youth from Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and other Gatka groups showcased their martial art skills, drawing attention along the route. Decorated vehicles displayed the life and teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur, while tea, snacks and Kada Prasad were served to participants.
A Vishal Kirtan Darbar will be held on November 30 at NTR Stadium from 10.30 am to 5 pm, featuring prominent Ragi Jathas from India and abroad. A Night Keertan Darbar will take place on November 29 at the same venue. The organising committee includes Harpal Singh, Kanchan Singh, Pratap Singh, Rajender Singh, Ranjeet Singh and Jagjeet Singh.
