We are creating prosperity and distributing it fairly to the poor. This balance is the essence of sustainable governance

N. Chandrababu Naidu Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has positioned his government’s long-term vision as a political and economic counterweight to the Opposition, declaring that ‘Swarna Andhra 2047’ plan will transform Andhra Pradesh into the country’s top-performing state. Unveiling growth targets at a conclave organised by Way2News, hosted by Senior journalist Ramesh Kandula, Naidu said the roadmap is designed to lift the state’s economy to Rs 57 lakh crore GSDP and push per capita income to Rs 10.55 lakh by 2034, while ensuring that welfare and development advance together.

Outlining specific economic goals, by 2028-29, Andhra Pradesh should reach a GSDP of Rs 29.29 lakh crore and per capita income of Rs 5.42 lakh. “This is not a distant dream. With clear thinking, strong willpower, and collective participation, Andhra Pradesh can lead India’s growth story,” he asserted.

Naidu used the platform not only to unveil his economic vision but also to underline his political positioning. He reminded stakeholders that his earlier Vision 2020, once dismissed as unrealistic, had been largely realized, laying the foundations for Hyderabad’s IT revolution and power sector reforms. “Had I only thought of politics, Hyderabad would not have grown into a global city, and reforms in power would not have happened. Leadership must think of future generations, not just elections,” he remarked.

Taking a swipe at critics, he said doubting long-term visions was counterproductive. “Mega dreams backed by determination can be achieved. The NDA government in the state will ensure this responsibility is fulfilled. And let there be no doubt, Modi will return as Prime Minister for a fourth term, and the NDA will continue in Andhra Pradesh,” Naidu declared confidently.

Naidu stressed that welfare and development would move in tandem. Through his flagship ‘Super Six’ welfare schemes, the government would continue to provide social support, while wealth creation would fund infrastructure and industry. “We are creating prosperity and distributing it fairly to the poor. This balance is the essence of sustainable governance,” he said.

Citing his own political journey, Naidu recalled how tough decisions in 1994 paved the way for electoral victory in 1999. He admitted that balancing growth and welfare had been a challenge in the past but insisted his current administration is striking the right equilibrium.

On Amaravati, Naidu was categorical that the capital city would not be reduced to a “municipality” but would emerge as a world-class metropolis akin to Hyderabad. “The land given by farmers will not go to waste. Expansion will be carried out smoothly, and Amaravati’s growth will be continuous. Once complete, the Guntur-Vijayawada-Tenali region will become a thriving mega city,” he said.

He highlighted Rs 50,000 crore worth of infrastructure projects already underway in Amaravati, which are expected to be completed within three years.

These projects, he announced, would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi.

Naidu also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to completing Polavaram irrigation project by September 2027, blaming the previous YSRCP regime for damaging the diaphragm wall. He pointed to his past record of delivering projects like the Gollapalli reservoir for the Kia factory and HNSS canal expansions within record time as evidence of his administrative capacity.

“Reforms, resilience, and futuristic planning are the hallmarks of Andhra Pradesh. We have shown the way before, and we will do it again,” Naidu said, striking a political and emotional chord with his audience.
