“Nakabandi” conducted across Mahabubabad district

On the instructions of District Superintendent of Police Dr. Shabareesh, police conducted a large-scale nakabandi (checkposts inspection) and surprise vehicle inspection drive across all sub-divisions in Mahabubabad district on Wednesday. The special drive was aimed at maintaining law and order, curbing the illegal transportation of ganja and other narcotic substances and keeping a close watch on the movement of rowdy-sheeters and suspicious individuals. Police set up special checkposts on major roads, national highways and border areas. A total of 3,485 vehicles were inspected across Mahabubabad and Thorrur sub-divisions.

In the Mahabubabad sub-division, under the supervision of the DSP, 4 Circle Inspectors, 18 Sub-Inspectors and around 100 police personnel checked 1,985 vehicles. Authorities booked 74 vehicles for riding without number plates. In the Thorrur sub-division, police personnel including the DSP, 4 Circle Inspectors and 12 Sub-Inspectors, along with 100 staff, inspected 1,500 vehicles. During the checks at Nellikuduru, police seized approximately 2 kg 395 grams of ganja from a car and arrested three persons.

The vehicle used for transporting the contraband was also seized. Police stated that strict action against ganja smuggling will continue. SP Dr. Shabareesh, IPS, personally inspected nakabandi points in Mahabubabad town. He instructed officers and personnel on duty to thoroughly check every vehicle and maintain special vigil on suspicious individuals. The police urged citizens to immediately pass on any information regarding ganja or other narcotic substances. They assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
