Ten-year-old chess prodigy Nara Devansh and the son of state Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, has received the World Book of Records Awards-2025 for achieving a world record as the fastest checkmate solver by solving 175 of the most difficult chess puzzles in the fastest time. He participated in the award ceremony held at Westminster Hall, London and received the “Fastest Checkmate Solver-175 Puzzles” award.
Minister Nara Lokesh also attended the event to encourage his son and personally witness the ceremony .Nara Devansh quickly solved 175 complex checkmate puzzles taken from Laszlo Polgar’s famous chess collection ‘5334 Problems and Games’ in the Checkmate Marathon last year. These puzzles increase in difficulty one after the other, testing speed, accuracy and thinking skills. He has been listed in the World Book of Records as one of the best young talents in the world of chess.
Devansh’s success is due to his efforts, along with the encouragement of his parents and coach K. Rajasekhar Reddy. Commenting on the achievement, Minister Nara Lokesh said, "It is special that Devansh received this honor today. His thinking power, punctuality under pressure and his unique style at a young age have made this achievement possible. As a father, I have seen Devansh's tireless work ethics up close. This recognition is a true reward for his hard work. We are all very proud of this achievement."
In addition, Devansh has also previously held two other world records. He completed the 7-disc Tower of Hanoi in just 1 minute and 43 seconds and achieved the world records for arranging 32 pieces on 9 chess boards in the correct order in 5 minutes.
