Former Minister Harish Rao on Sunday slammed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the state government's negligent and deceitful attitude on ‘fee reimbursement' issue. He criticized that it was shameful that the Revanth government was playing dumb even though the managements of private educational institutions had been demanding the release of the fee reimbursement funds for two years.
“Due to the negligence of the Congress government, degree, PG, pharmacy, BEd, MBA, MCA and engineering educational institutions across the state are going to be closed. The future of almost 13 lakh students has become unthinkable. If the semester exams are also being postponed, what is the Chief Minister, who is also the Education Minister, doing?” he asked .He made it clear that the managements of the private institutions and students were not satisfied with the statement given by the state Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka
Harish Rao further questioned as to how the money that was not available for paying salaries and fee reimbursements was being allocated to the projects of the Chief Minister's Commissions, while noting that the state government has decided to call for ₹ 20 thousand crore tenders for Future City and ₹7000 crore tenders for lifting Godavari water from Mallanna Sagar to Musi river. He alleged that Revanth Reddy was calling for the tenders for two and a half lakh crore rupees to collect his commissions.
Harish Rao recalled that during the tenor of the BRS government, the fee reimbursement did not stop even during economic downturns like demonetization and Corona pandemic. “But after the Congress came to power, due to the accumulation of the huge fee reimbursement arrears, the educational institutions were unable to run. Already, half of the junior colleges and degree colleges in the state have been closed. The Managements are grieving as they are unable to pay salaries to employees,” he said.
