At the prestigious “Nava Telugu Tejam – Sri Lalitha Sravanthi Award” ceremony organized by “Adileela Foundation” in Vijayawada on Saturday, young classical dancer Maddirala Ketana Reddy was honored for her exceptional talent and remarkable contributions to Indian classical dance. With dedication, discipline and artistic brilliance at a young age, she stands as a shining example of “Nava Telugu Tejam” — the new radiant force of Telugu culture.
A native of YSR Kadapa district, the journey of Ketana Reddy is an inspiring blend of tradition and modern excellence. Between 2023 and 2025, Ketana Reddy gained wide recognition through her captivating Kuchipudi dance performances. Her unique specialty lies in performing complex dance sequences with extraordinary coordination — balancing pots on her head, dancing with lit lamps, using hula hoops, and even performing on skates.
These rare and challenging performances reflect her exceptional control, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the art form. In 2023, she was honored by the then Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the “Sankranthi Sambaram” celebrations held in Vijayawada.
Some of her achievements and honors include “Lasya Sundari” title by Natyanjali Dance Academy, Vijayawada, winning national award instituted by “Telugu Samskruti Sahithi Seva” trust and gaining entry into India Book of Records, Telugu Book of Records, International Record – Wonder Book of Records and Genius Book of Records.
