A high-level delegation from the Environment Protection & Development Council (EPDC), in collaboration with leaders from the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), met Union Skill Development Minister Jayant Singh Chowdhary in New Delhi on Wednesday to advocate for the skill empowerment of India’s farming community.

Leading the delegation was Dr. Lion Komatireddy Gopal Reddy, National Advisor to both EPDC and TRHSS (Telangana Ruthula Hakkula Sadana Samithi), and Vice President of RLD Telangana. A respected educationist and Telangana’s Green Ambassador, Dr. Reddy submitted a detailed memorandum emphasizing the urgent need to train small and marginal farmers in organic farming, natural agriculture, and sustainable practices. He noted the rising demand for chemical-free, healthy food and stressed that upgrading farmers’ skills is essential to meet market needs and enhance rural incomes.

Dr. Reddy also highlighted key challenges faced by farmers, such as lack of awareness, high input costs, and poor returns on investment. He urged the government to implement grassroots-level, job-oriented training programs in partnership with the Skill Development Ministry to equip farmers with practical, up-to-date knowledge in sustainable agriculture.

Union Minister Jayant Singh Chowdhary appreciated the vision presented by the delegation and assured them of the Ministry’s commitment to supporting farmer-focused skill development initiatives. The delegation included Dr. Lion Komatireddy Gopal Reddy, RLD Telangana State President Kapilwai Dilip Kumar, Former National General Secretary of RLD Tyagi, and senior journalist and policy advisor Vittal.
