A heavy influx of visitors was recorded at Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, on the occasion of New Year Day, with about 25,900 people visiting the zoo. Anticipating large crowds, the zoo management deputed all officers and staff at various locations to ensure constant vigil and smooth movement of visitors.
Visitors expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made by the zoo authorities to manage the New Year rush. The online ticket booking system facilitated quicker entry, allowing visitors to book tickets conveniently through their mobile phones. In addition, extra booking counters were opened to ease congestion at entry points.
Security personnel and staff were deployed at all animal enclosures to ensure the safety of both animals and visitors and to enable better viewing. Large crowds were seen at popular enclosures including those of tigers, lions, elephants, hippopotamuses, giraffes, zebras, the reptile house and the nocturnal animal house. Recreational facilities such as the Safari Park complex, train ride and battery-operated vehicle rides also attracted many visitors.
Smt. J. Vasantha, IFS, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, extended New Year greetings and thanked visitors for choosing the zoo as their holiday picnic destination. In view of the heavy rush, all animals were released into their respective enclosures for public display.
