Nellore District Science Centre curator N. Subrahmanyam who has been striving for nearly three decades to promote science education in rural areas, has been awarded the prestigious “ShikshaGraha Leadership Award”, stated Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, in an official statement. The award was presented during the national education conference “InvokED 5.0: Mission to Movement” held in Bengaluru on February 6th .
Along with the citation, a financial grant of Rs 10 lakh was announced to support the expansion of educational programs. Samagra Shiksha SPD B. Srinivasa Rao attended the program. Out of 6,500 teachers across India, only three were selected based on leadership qualities, social impact and contributions to rural education—and Subrahmanyam is one among these outstanding educators.
The award was presented by S.D. Shibulal (Founder, ShikshaLokam; Co-founder, Infosys) and Kumari Shibulal (Founder & Chairperson, The Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives). He has restored the Mobile Science Lab (Space on Wheels), indoor and outdoor exhibits, integrated QR codes with video explanations, implemented Astro Tourism, Cosmos Digital Learning, STEM based experiential education, and continues to lead programs such as Budding Scientists, INSPIRE Awards and the Rural Children Research Centre.
Recognizing his innovative initiatives, Samagra Shiksha SPD B. Srinivasa Rao has encouraged and provided financial support, including monthly transport charges for operating the Mobile Science Lab. “The encouragement and support from SPD B. Srinivasa Rao played a vital role in this achievement,” Subrahmanyam expressed his gratitude.
